flasher is a portable Unix daemon that monitors specified files (e.g., mail files or system log files) for changes and indicates the number of writes by flashing a keyboard LED. When the files have been read, the flashing stops. We find it very useful for monitoring file changes on "headless" servers that aren't often interactively accessed.

flasher was written by our Technical Lead, Murray Nesbitt. It currently works on FreeBSD, Solaris, Linux and SCO Unix.
